About the artist:
Tim Zhang (b. 2000, Shenzhen, China) lives and works in Providence RI, USA. He
earned his BFA degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently an
MFA candidate at RISD Painting department.
Zhang’s work is inspired by the connections between mythology and science, viewing
both as frameworks for understanding the cosmos. Through a multidisciplinary practice
that spans painting, printmaking, programming, and animation, he investigates the
limitations of human perception and envisions higher life forms beyond our subjective
realities.
Zhang is a recipient of the 2019–2023 Merit Scholarship and the 2023-2025 Jerome
and Salli Zimmerman Graduate Fellowship. His work has been exhibited at Middle
Ridge Gallery (Idyllwild, CA), Melissa Morgan Gallery (Palm Springs, CA), Las Laguna
Art Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), Woods-Gerry Gallery (Providence, RI), Sol Koffler
Gallery (Providence, RI), and Jones Gallery (Kansas City, MO).
